Democracy Depends on Us: Make Your Voice Heard on November 3
Tuesday, November 3, is Election Day, and I encourage everyone in Windsor Park to get out and vote! Whether you follow politics closely or only occasionally, voting is one of the most important ways we participate in our democracy and help shape the future of our community, our state, and our country.
In fact, a healthy democracy depends on people with different experiences, perspectives, and priorities participating in the process. Voting gives us a peaceful way to make our voices heard, hold our elected officials accountable, and influence the decisions that affect our daily lives.
If you haven’t made a plan to vote, now is the time! Take a few minutes to research the candidates and issues, check your registration, and find out where to cast your ballot. There are several excellent nonpartisan resources available to help:
- Travis County Elections: www.votetravis.com – Official information about polling locations, voting hours, registration, and election procedures.
- Vote411: www.vote411.org – The League of Women Voters’ nonpartisan voter information site, with candidate information and personalized election guides.
- League of Women Voters of Texas: www.lwvtexas.org – Nonpartisan information about elections, voting rights, and important issues.
Please remember that local elections and decisions can have a tremendous impact on our everyday lives, from our schools and streets to public safety, parks, housing, and city services. Every election matters, and every vote helps shape the community we share.
So, make a plan, bring a neighbor if you can, and make your voice heard on November 3. Regardless of who you support, participating in our democracy is something we can all stand behind.
See you at the polls!
