We’re excited to share that Windsor Park has been chosen as a site for a free public refrigerator (with pantry) to assist the local unhoused community. The fridge is located at 1713 Patton Lane (but the fridge faces Hickman Ave).
The non-profit behind this initiative is called ATX Free Fridge: https://www.atxfreefridge.com
For this project to be successful, the site needs to be stocked and maintained.
Cleaning shift sign-ups for the Berkman location are now open — and we’d love your help!
Keeping the location clean has a truly powerful impact. When the space is well cared for, it encourages everyone who visits to treat it with respect. Beyond stocking the fridge, one of the most meaningful things volunteers can do is keep the area trash-free.
A couple of things to keep in mind when you volunteer:
• Remove all cardboard boxes — leaving them behind leads to trash piling up quickly.
• Do a general sweep of the space to ensure it’s clean and welcoming for the next visitor.
Thank you for stepping up and making a difference in your neighborhood — it truly means the world!
