Please come if you are interested.

Amanda Rose Posted on: 2005/9/14 8:04
The 10th Annual Northeast Community Harvest Fest will be November 19, 2005. We are actively planning this event, and would love to have more members on the Planning Committee, as well as needing plenty of folks for specific tasks either right before or day of the event.

We will be having regular Planning Committee Meetings at Freddie Nyland's house - they are listed on the Calendar.

Please contact me if you are interested in helping make this year's Harvest Fest a celebration to remember!

#167 "Jughandle" Opening
Mark Boyden Posted on: 2005/8/23 20:02
Just a reminder that the changes at IH35/51st/Cameron road will be implemented this weekend. This is where the northbound frontage road to Cameron will be closed and that traffic will be diverted into the Mueller property and up to 51st street at Lancaster. The Mueller Austin website has more information (PDF).

From the InFact Daily:

Meet the “Jughandle” . . . Starting this Saturday, the northbound IH-35 frontage road traffic at 51st Street will be permanently re-routed through the Mueller site to improve congested traffic conditions and accommodate the future additional traffic that will be created when the area is completely redeveloped. Drivers heading to westbound 51st Street, eastbound 51st Street and Cameron Road from the northbound IH-35 access road will now use the new roads in the Mueller site. This new traffic pattern is nicknamed the "jughandle" because of its shape. The Texas Department of Transportation created the jughandle design and it has been extensively reviewed by the affected neighborhoods, the City of Austin, an independent roadway design consultant and the developer of the Mueller site, Catellus.

#168 Randalls Donating to Schools
Mark Boyden Posted on: 2005/8/20 16:53
Randalls is donating funds to schools based on your purchases at their stores. It depends on whether or not you buy "participating prodcuts" and 10% of those goes to schools if you turn into them your receipts. Here is their info:

10% Back to Schools

We will be donating 10% of your grocery purchases of participating products to the local school of your choice every time you shop through Sept. 6.

Its Easy!

1) Look for participating products marked with the yellow school bus. And be sure to use your Remarkable Card.

2) If you are enrolled in eScrip, your 10% contribution will be automatically donated to your school.

3) If you are not enrolled in eScrip, check your receipt the first time you shop Randalls after Sept. 6.

It will have a Rewards Certificate on the back with a Redemption Code and your total contribution amount.

Give that Code# to your school before October 11. That's all your school needs to process your donation.

For details, call (877) 561-8048 or visit back2school.escrip.com.

#169 Street Resurfacing
Mark Boyden Posted on: 2005/8/16 12:36
There are a number of streets in the WPN that were resurfaced with tar and gravel. Loose gravel was supposed to be swept up a couple days or so after the initial process. If you know that loose gravel still exists on your street or a street near you, please call Ron Koehn (pronounced 'Cain) with the Street & Bridge Dept. at 974-8750 with that info.

#170 What needs to go on the home page?
Mark Boyden Posted on: 2005/8/14 12:03
We're looking for suggestions as to what needs to go on the home page? Right now as the content is just starting and beginning to grow, we don't have a lot, but it will grow. We can pull from any section whether it's the Content section (this is managed content from WPNA contributors and committees), or the Community Sections such as the Discussion area, the Business listings, the FAQs, etc.

What would you like to see there? Register and join in to the discussion here and let us know. Your feedback will make this site fit the needs of the community.

The site is database driven. So, we can spotlight content from each functional area on the home page to draw people into the various areas. The front page should highlight the content that we have in our site. For your information, the WPNA site uses XOOPS as the engine for the site.
